Sigiriya is located in Central Province of Sri Lanka, near the town Dambulla. It is a massive rock plateau which is more than 200 meters high. This ancient palace and fortress complex has significant archaeological importance. King Kashyapa built this as a fortress as well as a pleasure palace. After king’s death this became a monastery for Buddhist monks till the 14th century. Now this is UNESCO world heritage site which attracts thousands of tourists each year. After visiting Sigiriya, you will be transferred to Dambulla Cave Temple which dates back to 1st century BC.
