Gal Oya National Park boat safari

Galoya reservoir currently defined as Senanayaka Samudraya is the largest and very special among other reservoirs in Sri Lanka in various manners and home to huge herds of wild elephants.

Once you arrive at the pier you will get in to a small motor boat and sail in to the reservoir. You could see plenty of birdlife, both migrant and endemic and for the most part you feel comfortable since it is less touristic, giving you the best opportunity to be alone with nature. You may even see elephants swimming from shore to shore or crocodiles bathing in the shallow water. The boat ride will take approximately 3-4 hours and if you chose to visit in the afternoon, you’ll catch the most beautiful sunset.
